Presenters: Sumanjay Dutta | Kavya Rabindranath | Mentor: Ms. Anusha Ganapathi
This presentation was conducted to illustrate how the problem of various biases can be reduced by using randomization processes and hence RCTs. Further more, a case study was explained to expand on the methodology involved.
First off, Sumanjay Dutta from FE 1st Year present on Randomised Controlled Trials (often quoted as the "drug trials for economics"). He discussed the basics of RCTs - what they are, what makes them such rigorous policy impact evaluations and also explained the biases involved and other pitfalls of such participatory programs.
We then had a presentation by Kavya Ravindranath, EE 1st Year. She has been mentored by Anusha Ganapathi, GE 2nd Year. Kavya will be further explaining more methods that are employed in policy evaluation, such as Regression Discontinuity and Quantile Regression. She has worked with state-level NFHS data to study the impact of nutrition policy and shall be presenting interesting results of both practical and statistical significance.
